It sure has been amusing to watch the Democrats trying to put the jinni back into the bottle. For years they have had a rather nasty Faustian bargain with the Clintons and are just now starting to see the price to be paid for having done so. Just about every one of the Democrats stood by their man just like Hillary during the impeachment and all of the other scandals.

     The Devil in the Blue Dress aspersion was really the height of it all, however. They all claimed it was personal business when in fact it wasn't. To those who don't remember that nasty little political dagger they created for the Packwood-like Republicans, let me explain why. After Packwood's destruction Bill Clinton pushed a great new law to protect the rights of women, all of the nice Democrats in the Senate and Congress voted in favor of that law and it was touted as a new era in women's rights. That law allowed the use of civil court testimony as admissible evidence in Federal sexual harassment cases. It was to ensure they could have a field day with anyone else like Packwood they ever came across, as long as there was an 'R' behind their name of course.

     When Paula Jones finally got her day in court after fighting for it for far too long, Monica was brought up to show a pattern of misbehavior with underlings of the opposite sex. Billy lied about his relationship with Monica. That is known as perjury and it is a felony. When it came time for him to stand up like a big boy and take the heat, he lied. Suddenly there he was faced with his very own political weapon. Of course almost all of the Democrats let him off because they were now facing their own weapon too. All of those Democrats that gave him a free ride in the impeachment voted in favor of that political tool because it was a good law. They were however unwilling to uphold that law when it mattered. It was political expediency at full throttle. They all knew what the real issue was and could not be big boys either.

     They forgot something when they sold out and protected him: If a man will steal for you he will steal from you. The reason they didn't even think of that was thieves' honor and the blind spot created by it.

     Now it is campaign time and the Democrats are all in a huff because Bill and Hill won't shut their mouths. If they won't stand down, the Democrat candidates aren't getting the air and face time they really need in order to get elected. Maybe the Democrats don't realize what kind of a deal they really signed on for when they backed Bill and Hill through thick and thin. Maybe they don't quite understand that this is no accident at all. If I were the Democratic leadership, and I'd never want that, I would be seeing this as a plan to derail the Democrats in the next election.

     Bill and Hill wouldn't really like to have to run against an incumbent Democrat in 2008. It would be a much easier job to get into the White house again of they had to run against a Democrat unknown or better yet a defeated Democrat and a Republican unknown. I seriously doubt the Democrats are going to figure out what is going on here. If they do they will be silent again. If they begin to speak out against the ex-first couple they will again be speaking out against themselves, which they don't often like to do. We are getting a close look at the complete lack of foresight and judgment of the radical left. This group of people can't even make rational judgments within their own political party. How can they be trusted to handle our position in the world? All they talk about is a domestic policy being absent in the current administration. They talk about Homeland Security being a mess, but they ignore the fact that they are responsible for the mess. Things didn't just fall apart after Clinton left office. They had been destroyed by thoughtlessness and social engineering. It is amazing how well we are doing in spite of the last administration.

     That is one reason I really hope the Republicans start thinking about who they want to run in 2008. I don't want this group of thoughtless people running the ship of state into the rocks over and over while blaming everyone else for their failures. I don't want them killing our position geo-politically and cutting the military again so they can claim they have created a surplus. I don't want them using up our defensive weapons and not replacing them so they will have extra money. These people are the kind of folks that will not pay the power bill and then claim they have extra money and eat out every night.

     The most horrifying thought of all, however, is having to go through another four to eight years without a real First Lady.
